ALOR STAR: A 10-year-old girl watched in horror as lightning struck her mother dead at their goreng pisang stall in Kampung Tok Kepak in Ayer Hitam, about 30km from Alor Star.
Nurul Huda Fadzil screamed as she watched her mother, Zainab Nafiah, 48, died after being struck by the lightning during a thunderstorm at 6pm yesterday.
The girl has minor burns on her right foot in the incident.
Nurul Huda, who is from SR Tok Kepak, was sent to the Alor Star hospital by her father Fadzil Din.
The family lives about 4km away.
Fadzil, 52, said the lightning only struck once.
“My wife had started the business three months ago.
“She usually takes our daughter along with her,” said Fadzil, who has five sons.
