Lightning knocks out water supply to 500,000 folk
KUALA TERENGGANU: The main switch at a water treatment plant
in Air Kepong was damaged after being hit by lightning, affecting supply to
more than half a million people.
The consumers in Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus and Marang
were without water from Saturday night.
Syarikat Air Terengganu Sdn Bhd chief executive officer
Atemin Sulong said 80% were residents here and in Kuala Nerus while the rest
were in Marang.
He said repairs would have been completed by today and that
the concessionaire would be sending water tankers to assist consumers
meanwhile.
